What are the Gifts of Spring Cleaning

The upcoming season of Spring is associated with a ritual of cleaning.

We empty drawers, garages and closets.

Turn soil over in our garden and plant seeds in hope of new growth.

We rid our homes of what is no longer needed.

Make sure our windows are cleaned, ensuring a clear view.

What are the gifts of Spring cleaning?

Mostly, for me, Spring cleaning offers my soul a time to cleanse.

There is something quite parallel between Spring cleaning and soul cleansing.

Just as we clear our closets of what no longer fits, we can do so in the rooms of our soul.

Cleansing the windows of our heart to create clearer views.

Weed through the garden of our moments, making room for new self-growth.

Sometimes all that is needed in our garage is a new arrangement.

One that makes it easier to find the garden and home tools we will need.

We require tools as well to help navigate through the garden of our moments.

Spring is a wonderful time to rebuild our soul’s toolbox.

Trees are starting to show off their buds, bulbs are proudly sharing their colorful flowers.

Birds are everywhere, singing their tunes, happily greeting each other.

This is nature’s spring.

Then there is my spring.

I have always adopted spring as a time to clear away the old and make room for the new.

A time to make new order in my home as well as in my heart.

With each draw I clean out and reorganize, I have cleared out another soul draw.

Unblocked a doorway to my heart, opened a different window to my spirit.

The freshness of my spring fills my home, all that is no longer needed slowly leaves.

The beauty of newness begins to surround me.
