Fellowship is special and important for dwelling together in unity. We can rejoice to know Godly fellowship is pleasant and has a sweet aroma in God’s presence.
Lately, I have been reading and writing about collaboration and learned collaboration is important in the body of Christ. However, we must have the proper foundation in all of our endeavors. Jesus Christ has to be the rock. Understanding that Jesus Christ is the foundation, we can know the importance of fellowship.
Acts 1:14 KJV These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
Understanding Fellowship
Fellowship is a friendly association, especially with people of shared common interest. Some other words for fellowship are companionship, friendship, association, and togetherness, to name a few.
God desires unity and relationship amongst his people. We must first have fellowship and a relationship with Jesus Christ, which should allow for a flowing relationship with others in the body of Christ.
Dwelling Together
Psalm 133: 1-3 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard: That went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, And as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: For there the LORD commanded the blessing, Even life for evermore.’
In Psalm 133, King David states that harmony is pleasant and precious. Harmony/Unity in this text means union, unitedness, together of community in action, place, or time (often combined). Harmony is important as it makes the body of Christ a positive example to the world, which helps draw others to the Lord.
Our unity is like the precious oil of consecration, which consecrates the whole body.
When we unify, it is like the dew of Mount Hermon, which allows the high and lofty to become consecrated. When we dwell together in this place, God commands the blessing and life forever.
In closing, fellowship is important to allow integration among believers.
Inner unity will produce Godly results and bring forth the blessing of God.
I pray that Godly connections will flourish with pure intent and motives to accomplish God’s will.
