Faith for In Between What’s Now and What’s Next

Yesterday during my devotion time, The Lord spoke this phrase into my heart, He gives us faith for in between what’s now and what’s next. When I allowed these words to marinate in my soul, I found it to be quite comforting.

The reason I found peace in God’s statement is that I realized that we all have one thing in common; we all live in a constant state of “in between.” Whether we recognize it or not, each of us needs faith to have a sense of security about our future. Hebrews 11:1 profoundly reveals this truth- “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things we cannot see.”  Another way of saying this is faith is the ingredient we need to satisfy our present hunger and cannot perceive in our physical senses about our future.

We Live in The State of In Between Earth and Heaven

Since 1963, I have lived in the state of California. My mother moved our family here from the State of Texas. You too live in a particular state. It may be Arkansas, Florida, or any of the other 48 State in America. Likewise, our current and temporary residence is on Earth. One day, we will live eternally in Heaven if our faith is in Jesus Christ. Here are several other areas we can be in a state of in between:

  • In between jobs.
  • In between careers
  • In between paydays.
  • In between relationships
  • In between having children
  • In between renting and buying a house

The circumstances I just listed can also cause anxiety if we allow fear, doubt, worry or unbelief to take the place of faith. Hebrews 4:1 describes how when the Gospel of Salvation was preached, many people did not benefit from it because they did not mix in faith with what they heard. Faith is obviously the most important ingredient we need to include in our daily diet. Our Heavenly Father wants us to grow. What father or mother wants their children to stay the same size as when they were a toddler. That would be unnatural. Faith is the stimuli that fuels our growth.

CEO’s Faith Propelled Her from Employee to Employer

God wants you and I to live our “in between what’s now and what’s next” in confidence. He does not want us to live with fear and worry. Matthew 6:34, says “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” God does not want us to put a question mark where He has put a period.

On my BeInspired Today TV Show, I interviewed Dean’s Professional Services CEO, Jennifer Dean.  She shared how an emergency with one of her children and her faith in God propelled her from being an employee one day to becoming one of the most successful employers in the Nation.

Here are some more scriptures that show the necessity of faith to gives us confidence about what’s next in our lives:

Biblical Scriptures and Stories About the Importance of Faith

  • Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”
  • Luke 22:31-34, “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed that thy faith fails not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”

I included this story about this conversation between Jesus and Simon Peter in my book. Faith Fuel for Your Journey.”  Jesus made it explicitly clear that Simon Peter could not afford to lose his faith. Our Lord and Savior could have protected His Disciple in many ways. But He knew Peter’s most valuable weapon was his faith. Likewise, our faith is the key to us transitioning from “in between what’s now to what’s next.”

I am praying for us all to learn to live a better life by walking by faith (2 Cor. 5:7). It makes the all the difference between what’s now and what’s next.

I hope my article is a blessing to you and helps you to BeInspired Today.
